Dear God: Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another?

Dear God: When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it still the same old story?

Dear God: Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We do love a nice ride! Would it be so hard to rename the "Chrysler Eagle" the" Chrysler Beagle"?

Dear God: If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog?

Dear God: We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID's, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?

Dear God: More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.

Dear God: Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?

Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good dog.

1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.

2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.

3. The Litter Box is not a cookie jar.

4. The sofa is not a 'face towel'.

5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.

6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.

7. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying "hello".

8. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table.

9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after.

10. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt.

11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch.

12. The cat is not a 'squeaky toy' so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.

DeLand Dog Parade!

I know it has been awhile since we posted, but we've been pretty busy at our shop! Here are the photos from the DeLand dog parade! We had a blast! OK, so we were hot as anything in our costumes, but we think we looked way cuter dressed as Sylvester and Scooby as we would have as ourselves! Clovey didn't mind sleeping on Scoopy's arm either!

Downtown DeLand will have their dog parade February 2nd, 2008!

Here is a snippet of an article we found online for it:

"10th Annual Krewe of Barkalee Dog Parade, Saturday, February 2nd, 2008 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The Dog Masquerade Parade begins at 11:00 AM at the Cultural Arts Center and proceeds south on Woodland Boulevard through Downtown DeLand to Howry Avenue. The theme for 2008 is VIVA LAS VEGAS! Should my dog be bathed during the winter?

Your pet needs a regular shampooing to keep their skin and coat healthy. Follow a pet shampooing with conditioner or a moisturizer treatment. When choosing shampoo, buy pet specific shampoo. Your dog and cat's skin has a different pH than yours.

It is also a good idea to brush your pet's coat regularly in the winter. Though we live in Florida, it still gets chilly. That means sometimes the heaters are on and the windows are closed. This can cause your pets skin to dry out. Brushing your pet's coat will stimulate the natural oils in their skin and keep them happier!

3. Taking me for a walk, then not letting me check stuff out. Exactly whose walk is this anyway?

4. Any trick that involves balancing food on my nose... stop it!

5. Any haircut that involves bows or ribbons.
Now you know why we chew your stuff up when you're not home.

6. The sleight of hand, fake fetch throw. You fooled a dog! Whoooo Hoooooooo what a proud moment for the top of the food chain.

7. Taking me to the vet for "the big snip", then acting surprised when I freak out every time we go back!

8. Getting upset when I sniff the crotches of your guests.

SMALL DOGS
Small dogs are best suited for older kids as their size doesn't make them well suited to the physical rough-housing smaller kids may subject them to. They need limited exercise so they make good companions for the elderly and/or people in small living spaces. Because they are low to the ground they can be subject to respiratory infections, so be careful to keep them in warm dry environments. They should never be solely outside dogs.

MEDIUM DOGS
Generally speaking, medium sized dogs should have access to yards. It is best to live in a house if you want your medium sized dog to be happy and free from boredom. Medium dogs are better suited to young children as they are heartier and less defensive.

LARGE DOGS
Any of the large breeds will need two requirements; lots of space and a strong person to handle them. Many large dogs are gentle and loyal but do need a firm hand in training. They also need lots of food and are expensive to have groomed. Make sure you can handle the cost of a large dog before you get one.

It is summertime and we live in Florida. That means we all have to watch out for fleas and ticks on all of our pets! Make sure you check your cat and dog regularly and be observant of any excessive iching, biting at the coat, or other discomfort. If you live near the woods, or walk your dog on trails, watch out for ticks.

CAT DIARY

Day 983 of my captivity.
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.
They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape.
In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am.
Bastards!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released -and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.
The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe for now...
